ACCREDITED PLAYBACK THEATRE TRAINERS
Our Trainers
Alison and Amanda are accredited Playback Theatre trainers with the Centre for Playback Theatre, New York. They offer training locally, nationally for the UK School of Playback Theatre and internationally. Amanda has a background in choreography and education. Alison has a background in counselling and theatre in education. Since 2001 they have established four performance companies: Four Winds and Fire; Mirror Mirror, Tarte Noire (now RedEarth) and Dart a new community company in Totnes, Devon.
Alison and Amanda offer clear foundations in the practise of Playback Theatre. Training courses have an emphasis on developing skills for spontaneity and physical expression. Central to the training is building group connection and improvising personal stories using the Playback Theatre forms. This offers the opportunity to develop integrity in performance and to strengthen trust in yourself and in your relationships with other group members. You will learn about story and how to create meaningful, artistic representations from the impressions and experiences offered by the “teller”. Courses are active and participatory. Lots of time is spent working and playing together.

This work strongly supports the growth of creativity and personal confidence
Alison and Amanda have a deeply authentic leadership style which encourages listening and intimacy and also a lightness of touch that means it’s always great fun to work with them. Both of them are highly skilled facilitators who have a thorough knowledge not only of playback theatre but also of group dynamics and personal process. Having worked with many teachers and facilitators over the years I feel very confident saying they are some of the best I’ve ever come across.
